About this painting
With their disctive bright blue plumage, I had always hoped to see an indigo bunting, and was delighted when one became my neighbour while I was on a three month artist residency in a mobile off-grid tiny house on Manitoulin Island. This bunting was one of my bird friends - he would sing to me for hours from one of his favourite perches on the tops of three or four different trees. Some days I would invent a little tuneless song, that I unimaginatively called "The Bunting Song", which I would sing back to him.
