About this painting
Nighthawks are most often seen at dusk and dawn when they take to the skies to hunt for insects. I'm drawn to birds that are noctural - the sharp and metallic "peent" of their call reminds me of summer nights. This nighthawk is pictured flying over a property on Manitoulin Island where I was very lucky to spend three months while on an artist residency in a tiny house.
